About the Author

W. Stanton "Stan" Smith is a frequent speaker and workshop leader, and has made presentations to a wide variety of educational, professional and civic organizations.

At the invitation of HR Magazine, he visited London to discuss his views on generational issues with selected UK HR leaders. He was the first day keynote speaker at the United States Naval Academy’s 25th Annual Leadership Conference and for the annual meeting of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society. 

In June 2007 Stan received the Work/Life Legacy Award sponsored by the Families & Work Institute; the highest recognition in the work/life field for cutting edge ideas and long-term impact.

Stan recently retired from Deloitte LLP where he was a principal in Human Resources and after 36+ years in the business world.

He continues his research, writing and speaking on the topic of generational differences. In addition he is active in working to improve treatment and care of those with Parkinson’s Disease.

Stan is a native of Houston, Texas. He received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He lives in upstate South Carolina with his wife Roz.
